Milwaukee Jail: Visiting Information

First things first: in most cases, family members are allowed to visit inmates in the Milwaukee County Jail. Even if you can’t make it in person, you may be able to visit via video; you’ll just need to register at HomeWAV.com and pay a $1 setup free. Once you connect, it costs $0.65 per minute for a video call to an inmate in the Milwaukee County Jail. Off-site visiting hours take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

If you want to visit an inmate at the jail, you’ll have to register through the Milwaukee County Sheriff, which you can do here. On-site visiting hours take place on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Educational Programs for Inmates at the Milwaukee County Jail

The Milwaukee County Jail has educational programs for inmates of all ages.

Inmates between the ages of 14 and 17 can earn high school credits or a diploma through the Milwaukee Public School System while they are incarcerated.

Adult inmates can learn basic skills while preparing and testing for the GED (testing is administered biweekly). Instruction is provided by the Milwaukee Area Technical College.
